Editorial Policy
How We Maintain Independence
Last Updated: January 1, 2026
LumScope exists to help founders build resilient payment infrastructure through independent, evidence-based research. This policy explains how we protect our editorial integrity while operating a sustainable business.
— Core Principles —
1. Evidence Over Opinions
Every claim in our guides is backed by verifiable sources: official pricing documentation, API specifications, user migration case studies, and compliance requirements. We cite our sources in every analysis.
2. No Pay-to-Play
Payment providers cannot pay to improve their ranking, suppress negative findings, or influence our Resilience Audit scores. Our analysis is never for sale.
3. Transparent Funding
We earn affiliate commissions when readers sign up through our links. This funding model is disclosed on every page, and commission rates never influence our recommendations.
How We Make Money
Affiliate Commissions
When you click a link to a payment provider and sign up, we may earn a commission from that provider. This comes from their marketing budget at no extra cost to you.
What We Don’t Do
- We do not accept payment for positive reviews.
- We do not suppress negative findings in exchange for affiliate partnerships.
- We do not recommend providers based on commission rates.
- We do not run banner ads, pop-ups, or sponsored content.
Editorial Independence
Separation of Church and State
Our research team operates independently from our business development team. Affiliate partnerships are managed separately from editorial decisions.
We Recommend Providers Without Affiliate Relationships
If a payment provider is the best fit for a specific use case, we will recommend them—even if we earn no commission. Evidence comes first.
We Decline Partnerships We Can’t Endorse
We regularly decline affiliate partnership offers from providers whose platform risk scores or cost structures don’t meet our standards.
— Our Research Process —
1. Technical Documentation Review
We analyze official API documentation, pricing sheets, compliance certifications, and terms of service to understand technical capabilities and limitations.
2. Cost Structure Analysis
We calculate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) including hidden fees, integration overhead, and compliance burden—not just advertised rates.
3. User Experience Research
We aggregate real migration experiences from founder communities, filtering out low-quality reviews and vendor-planted testimonials.
4. Platform Risk Assessment
We evaluate account freeze frequency, appeal process quality, and business model tolerance based on documented cases and provider policies.
5. Comparative Benchmarking
We compare providers across standardized criteria to identify the best fit for specific use cases (marketplaces, SaaS, high-risk, enterprise).
Update & Correction Policy
Quarterly Reviews
We review all guides quarterly to ensure pricing, features, and risk assessments remain accurate. Material changes are noted with update timestamps.
Immediate Corrections
If we discover an error, we correct it immediately and publicly note the correction. We do not silently edit content.

Conflicts of Interest
We disclose all financial relationships that could influence our analysis:
- Affiliate Partnerships: Disclosed on every page and in our Affiliate Disclosure page.
- Sponsored Content: Clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” (we currently do not accept sponsored content).
- Personal Investments: Our team does not hold equity in any payment providers we analyze.
